Janet A. (Scharfenkamp) Davis, age 93, of Edencrest at Green Meadows in Johnston, formerly of Jefferson, passed away peacefully on October 20, 2025.
Janet was the daughter of Dorothy Simons Scharfenkamp and William J. Scharfenkamp. She was born on December 31,1931, at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Carroll. She graduated from St. Angela Academy in 1949. Immediately following graduation, she worked as a bookkeeper for Pepsi Cola Bottling in Carroll for 10 years. After her children’s high school graduations, Janet worked 25 years at the Jefferson Manor as the housekeeping supervisor.
On June 4, 1960 she married Richard G Davis of Jefferson. To this marriage, two sons were born: Thomas Richard and Timothy William.
Janet never believed she was the age she actually was. People would often remark how active she was. She was always ready to lend a hand to help someone and said daily prayers for her loved ones and others less fortunate than herself.
In her free time, Janet enjoyed traveling with her husband and attended many Iowa State University football and basketball games. Also, family and friends were an important part of her life. Janet was a very caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She will be greatly missed.
Janet was preceded in death by her husband Dick, who died December 21, 2023. She is survived by her sons Tom (Paula) of Grimes, and Tim of Prosper, TX; grandchildren Teresa (Andy) Pope of Ankeny and Christina Davis of Montreal, Canada; great grandchildren Colton and Madelyn Pope; brother Roy Scharfenkamp of Baudette, MN; sisters-in-law Karen Scharfenkamp of Carroll and Mary Rae Bragg of Dubuque; brother-in-law: Ronald (Felicia) Davis of Porter, TX; and many nieces and nephews.
Services were arranged by Slininger-Schroeder Funeral Home, Jefferson, Iowa.
